An Ounce Of Prevention (Oz)
Fast-Start Guide: If You HATE to Read Manuals
If you are an experienced DOS user, you may be able to put An Ounce Of
Prevention (Oz) to use without reading more than this short guide.
Nevertheless, many of Oz's features are not obvious and we want you to know all
that it can do for you. So we urge you: please take the time to read the first
chapter of the manual, at least.
The Oz system comprises two main programs:
OZRES.EXE a memory-resident program that protects your files.
OZUTIL.EXE a utility program that restores deleted files, etc.
If you wish, you may install Oz by following the prompts on the Oz Installer
program, INSTALL.EXE. The Installer will:
Copy the Oz files to a directory of your choice.
Ask which of Oz's memory-resident features you wish to install.
Create an Oz command line in your AUTOEXEC or AUTOUSER file.
The Installer includes enough help text to explain these processes to an
experienced PC user. The command line for OzRes may, however, appear rather
cryptic unless you read Chapter 3 of the Manual, "Installing Oz By Hand."
Oz Demonstration System - Oz's utility program OzUtil gives you you the
opportunity to see a demonstration of Oz's operation. OzUtil is discussed in
Chapter 4.
Once again, we suggest that you take the time to: Read the Manual!
